🌿 Explore with Little Naturalist: Field Finders🌿

An illustrated nature field guide for curious young explorers.

Get outside, slow down and discover the wildlife and natural treasures hiding all around you with the Little Naturalist: Field Finders.

This 8-page field guide is designed to encourage children to look, find, notice and discover the natural world around them. From tiny creatures beneath logs to birds in the garden, wildflowers, mammals, fungi and feathers, there’s plenty to spot on your next outdoor adventure.

🔎 What’s inside?

The Field Finders guide includes seven themed sections:

🪲 Underfoot – ground bugs & mini beasts
🦋 On the Wing – bugs, bees & butterflies
🐦 In the Garden – common garden birds
🐾 On the Trail – mammals about
🌿 Growing Wild – common plants
🍂 Wild I-Spy – things to find outdoors

Each entry includes where to look and an interesting feature or behaviour to look out for, plus a handy “FOUND IT!” tick box. The guide contains 56 things to discover across the seven sections.

🌱 Explore responsibly

The guide also includes simple Nature Rules to help young naturalists explore safely and respectfully, including caring for living things, leaving nests undisturbed, returning logs and stones to where they were found, taking care around roads and water, and washing hands after outdoor activities.

At Hart-Kent, we believe that learning about animals and nature should begin with curiosity.

You don’t need specialist equipment or a particular destination. You just need somewhere safe to explore, a pair of curious eyes, and perhaps a magnifying glass.

Look. Find. Notice. Discover.
